President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to keep everyone wondering which minister will make it back into his cabinet and which minister will be dropped by the time his starts making appointments.
When the president finally picks his ministers, he is expected to send the list to the Senate as 'executive communication'.
According to a presidential source, President Buhari has continued to keep everybody guessing on the final list, The Cable reports.
"And nobody can say for sure that they know who is on the list and who is not. The president is keeping everything close to his chest.”
People have been speculating that the position of secretary to the government of the federation and chief of staff to the president would be retained by Boss Mustapha and Abba Kyari, respectively.
The presidential source said: “There is a big battle for the office of chief of staff, which many consider to be the prime minister position if it were a parliamentary system."
Former governor of Rivers state and ex-minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is expected to make it back into Buhari's cabinet.
The source added: “Buhari, for obvious reasons, cannot drop Amaechi from the cabinet. It would amount to double jeopardy for Amaechi after the events in Rivers."
The executive secretary, Anti-Corruption and Research Based Data Initiative (ARDI), Dr Dennis Aghanya, gave the advice in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, June 9.
He said sidelining corrupt persons yet to be prosecuted and those standing trial would bestow more credibility on the president as one with zero tolerance to corruption.
Aghanya further explained that it would be most expedient to keep those standing trial out of his cabinet to forestall them funding their trials with public funds.
He said: “This has become necessary to avoid situations whereby cabinet members would use public funds to defend their corruption cases pressed against them by the EFCC or any other anti-graft agencies.
