The Presidency has rejected claims credited to former Minister of Education Obiageli Ezekwesili that Nigeria is heading towards division.
Ezekwesili, a guest on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, had urged government officials to accept that Nigeria was “not in a good place at all” as a step to solving the nation’s challenges"
“Initially, I kept saying that we were a fragile country. Now, we are fast-heading towards the threshold where you have a state collapse and we can’t stand watching while that happens,” she warned.
However, President Buhari’s media aide Garba Shehu, who spoke during the programme by phone, dismissed the claim.
He said, “If the country is collapsing, it is collapsing somebody’s dream.”
Shehu also said “Nothing Is Collapsing,” adding that “The country is strong, moving on.”
“Having lost the elections, they are devising new ways so that they can grab power. So, let’s see how they can contest and get power,” he also said.
According to him, armed robberies are not new, and political opponents had been killed in the past even before Buhari became President.
